Jackson Pro Plus Christian Andreu RR24 review

The Jackson Pro Plus Christian Andreu RR24 is a signature guitar for Gojira guitarist Christian Andreu, built around the sharp V-style body associated with Jackson's Rhoads models. Its specification is focused: an alder body, a three-piece maple neck running through the body, an ebony fingerboard, one Fishman Fluence humbucker, and an EverTune F6 bridge. It was listed as available from March 2026, with an item number of 636278 and a price of $1,799.

That combination makes a clear promise. The fixed-tension EverTune system is intended to help keep tuning stable, while the single pickup and simple controls keep the signal path uncluttered. The reviewed guitar's black finish has white edges, with black hardware and inverted pearloid Ghost Fins fingerboard inlays. It also comes with a Jackson foam-core case. Those features make for a distinctive, performance-oriented package, but owner experiences indicate that build and setup consistency deserve close attention.

Construction and playability

The maple neck uses a neck-through-body construction and graphite reinforcement. The ebony fingerboard has a compound radius that changes from 12 inches to 16 inches, with 24 jumbo stainless steel frets. Jackson lists a 25.51-inch scale length and a 1.6875-inch nut width. Together, those dimensions describe a full-scale instrument with a broad, relatively flat upper fingerboard, though the actual playing feel still depends on the setup of each guitar.

One owner praised the guitar's light weight, comfort on a strap, attractive appearance, neck relief, and fret leveling. That player reported receiving an instrument that was correctly set up and sounded excellent. Another owner also found the guitar beautiful and comfortable to wear, and liked the lightweight foam case. Their experience changed during inspection: the low strings sat too close to the fingerboard to play properly, and the output jack worked intermittently. The owner returned that guitar.

A separate report describes a crack in the ebony fingerboard around the 15th to 17th frets, along with visible finish marks near the neck binding. That owner also encountered restricted saddle-height adjustment and tuning problems after bends. These accounts do not establish how common such faults are, but they are specific enough to make a careful inspection and test important on a guitar at this price.

Pickup and EverTune bridge

The RR24 has one Fishman Fluence Open Core Modern OEM-MO6-ABB humbucker, one volume control, and a three-way switch. The pickup provides the central voice, rather than a multi-pickup layout with separate controls for different positions. The owner reports describe the sound positively, but the supplied feedback does not offer detailed comparisons across settings or playing styles. Buyers should try the guitar through their own amplifier and check that the jack remains reliable while the cable is moved gently.

The EverTune F6 bridge is a major part of the model's appeal. The owner who reported trouble with it was familiar with setting up EverTune-equipped guitars and found that the saddle-height screws stopped raising the saddles beyond a certain point. The high E and B strings also reportedly went flat after bends, despite a setup the owner considered correct.

That owner contacted EverTune and sent photos of the bridge. During further inspection, they found pickup-support foam pressing against the EverTune mechanism through the adjoining pickup cavity. The owner says an EverTune technician advised that pressure should not be applied to the mechanism, and that the foam placement could account for the restricted movement and tuning issues. This is an account of one instrument, not confirmation of a general production defect. Still, it gives buyers a concrete area to check if saddle adjustment or tuning stability seems abnormal.

Verdict

On paper, the Jackson Pro Plus Christian Andreu RR24 has an appealing combination of a distinctive body, stainless steel frets, a neck-through maple neck, a focused Fishman pickup setup, and an EverTune bridge. The positive report describes excellent sound, comfortable weight, good fretwork, and a correct setup on arrival. Those are meaningful strengths for players drawn to the model's design and hardware.

The negative reports, however, involve fundamental issues: an intermittent jack, strings set too low, a cracked fingerboard, finish imperfections, and an EverTune mechanism that one owner says was obstructed by pickup foam. Jackson did not respond to that owner, while Fender acknowledged the report but did not confirm whether the issue had been addressed. The available feedback cannot show whether these faults affect other units, so it would be unfair to treat them as universal. It is equally difficult to overlook them at $1,799.

Inspect the fingerboard and binding, test the jack, check string height across all six strings, and confirm that the EverTune saddles move through their adjustment range. If buying remotely, ask the dealer to verify those points before shipment. The RR24 could be an excellent fit when a particular unit is built and set up correctly, but these reports make a hands-on check a sensible part of the purchase.

What convinced me

  • The alder body, neck-through maple neck, and ebony fingerboard are paired with a distinctive Rhoads V shape.
  • The Fishman Fluence pickup, EverTune bridge, locking tuners, and stainless steel frets offer a strong feature set.
  • The included foam-core case is described by one reviewer as lightweight and well made.

What bugged me

  • Two reviewers reported serious quality or setup problems, including a cracked fingerboard, finish marks, low strings, and a faulty output jack.
  • One reviewer found restricted saddle adjustment and tuning stability problems, which they attributed to pickup foam pressing against the EverTune mechanism.

Is it the right one for you?

Good pick if

A fit for players drawn to the Rhoads V shape, a single high-output humbucker, and an EverTune bridge. Best considered by buyers willing to inspect the individual instrument and confirm its setup before relying on it.

Look elsewhere if

Not a good choice for buyers who need dependable quality control without an in-person inspection. Look elsewhere if you want a conventional body shape, a tremolo system, or a guitar with no reported setup concerns.

What other players say

Customer reports praise the guitar's appearance, light feel, sound, neck, fretwork, and included case. However, both accounts describe reasons for concern: one buyer returned an instrument with very low strings and an unreliable output jack, while another reported a cracked fingerboard, finish flaws, limited saddle adjustment, and tuning issues they associated with pickup foam pressing on the EverTune mechanism. The reports therefore point to appealing design and features but uncertain quality consistency.

This guitar is exactly what I would choose for a custom build: the Rhoads shape, an EverTune bridge and a single Fishman Fluence pickup.
The setup was correct out of the box, neck relief perfect and the fret levelling was very good.
This could be a phenomenal guitar: excellent sound, beautiful guitar, outstanding features, a great neck and very good fretwork.

The last word from the bench

This signature model combines a distinctive Rhoads body with a Fishman Fluence pickup, an EverTune bridge, and stainless steel frets. One owner praised its sound and initial setup, but also reported a cracked fingerboard, finish flaws, and mechanical problems they linked to pressure on the EverTune system. Another buyer returned their guitar because of string height and output jack issues. Given these reports, inspect the instrument and test its setup carefully before committing to the purchase.
