Dunlop Iron Maiden Killers Cry Baby

Signature Wah Pedal with Distinctive Visuals

The Dunlop Iron Maiden Killers Cry Baby reworks an icon of guitar effects as a signature model for Iron Maiden fans and collectors. Officially released in April 2026, this wah effect pedal stands out not just for its purposeful circuit, but above all for its unique "Killers" era artwork, making it as much a collector's piece as it is functional gear. Priced at $189, it lands firmly within the midrange for signature artist pedals.

Design: Iron Maiden Visuals with Real-World Detail

Dunlop's execution of the Iron Maiden theme is meticulous. The entire metal housing is robust and reassuringly weighty, typical for Cry Baby construction. The pedal's top surface features a textured graphic of Eddie from the "Killers" album, this is no sticker but a grip-enhancing, structured image that pops with bold reds and yellows. "Iron Maiden" script is emblazoned down each side, and even the base sports a high-quality print of the mascot. The effect is immediately eye-catching whether on a pedalboard or shelf. If you're a collector, you may find the pedal almost too visually striking to actually step on with your foot; that's a recurring sentiment among early users.

Classic Cry Baby Sound Profile

Underneath the exclusive finish, the circuit remains classic Cry Baby: this is a single-function wah effect, with no volume pedal, dynamic wah, or distortion circuitry included. There is no true bypass, once activated, the wah introduces its tonal stamp to the signal chain. The pedal uses a standard 6.3 mm mono jack input and output. Power can be supplied by a 9V battery or an optional 9V DC adapter (not bundled in the box).

Tonally, the wah delivers exactly what's expected from a traditional Cry Baby design. The sweep is voiced to cover the familiar Cry Baby territory heard on the "Killers" album, combining a punchy, mid-focused wah with a pronounced accent on higher frequencies. The effect can lean into aggressive brightness if you apply full pressure, this can be lively for classic lead lines and solos, but some players may wish for a bit more sweep range. In fact, users report the throw feels a touch shorter compared to other models like the Slash signature variant, yet it remains predictable and usable once you get accustomed to its feel.

Test Results: In Use and Collector Value

• Craftsmanship: The build is every bit as solid as other Dunlop offerings. Hinges move smoothly, and the treadle offers responsive operation for expressive playing.
• Sound: The wah circuit stays true to its lineage, no surprises, just reliable performance. The bright upper end can "scream" with more assertive footwork, but dialing in your movement makes it easy to control the expressive range.
• Visual Impressions: This is where the pedal is in a class of its own. The "Killers" artwork is not only unique, but the textured grip makes it both functional and striking.
• Practicalities: No true bypass is a consideration for signal purists, and only the base 9V power options are available. Still, these are standard for traditional wah pedals and won't pose problems for most setups.
• Target User: If you play classic rock or metal and value authenticity, the pedal checks the right boxes. For diehard Iron Maiden fans, it's an obvious must-have, but even as a player's wah, it stands on solid ground sonically.

Comparing the Competition

Fans seeking more tonal options or true bypass switching might look toward higher-end or more modern wah pedals. The Killers Cry Baby is less versatile than multi-effect units or models with integrated distortion, but that is not the point of this unit. Its value comes from nailing the specific sound and look associated with Iron Maiden's iconic era.

Conclusion

The Dunlop Iron Maiden Killers Cry Baby delivers a specialized experience. The sonic footprint is pure traditional wah, with a slight edge on the high frequencies. Tone aficionados familiar with the Cry Baby line will feel right at home, while collectors will be drawn in by the unmatched visual presentation. For the price, it is a bridge between playable gear and memorabilia, you might hesitate to stomp all over the detailed artwork, but for fans of the band and genre, this pedal is both a piece of history and a reliable workhorse. Dunlop's attention to visual and mechanical quality makes it a true standout on the board or in the display case.
