PRS 40th Custom 24-08 Semi CCBurst

PRS 40th Custom 24-08 Semi CCBurst: Technical Review

The PRS 40th Custom 24-08 Semi CCBurst is a limited-edition, U.S.-made electric guitar with a semi-hollow mahogany body, a flamed maple top, and two TCI humbuckers. The listed production run is 75 instruments. It became available in November 2025, and the listed item number is 630108. No customer reviews are available, so this assessment is based solely on the supplied specifications. It does not claim to reflect playing impressions, sound tests, or owner experience.

The product is identified as a Custom 24 10Top model, while the full product name includes "24-08." Its specification sheet lists a 24-fret layout and two mini-toggle switches for EQ alongside a three-way pickup selector. These details describe the guitar's controls, but the available information does not explain the exact operation or available settings of the mini toggles.

Body, top, and finish

The body is mahogany, with a flamed maple top identified as a 10-Top. The guitar is specified as semi-hollow, a construction detail that distinguishes it from a fully solid-body instrument. No chamber layout, sound-hole dimensions, or construction diagram is provided, so those details cannot be assessed from the listing.

The finish is described as Charcoal Tri-Color Burst, while the general color field says Burst. The more specific finish name gives a clearer indication of the intended appearance, but the supplied data does not include finish photos or a detailed description of the color transitions. The hardware is described as hybrid, without a list of its individual finishes or components.

Neck and playing dimensions

The set neck is mahogany and uses a Pattern Thin profile. Its 635 mm scale length is approximately 25 inches. The ziricote fingerboard has a listed radius of 254 mm, or 10 inches, and carries 24 frets. Old School Birds inlays with outlines provide the specified fingerboard markers.

Together, these figures provide useful points of comparison for players familiar with PRS-style instruments. They do not establish how the neck will feel in hand, how the frets are finished, or how the guitar is set up from the factory. The listing does not provide nut width, neck thickness measurements, fret size, or action specifications. Those omissions limit any closer comparison based on fit and playability.

Pickups and controls

The pickup system consists of two TCI humbuckers, one in the neck position and one in the bridge position. Controls include one master volume and one tone control, a three-way toggle switch, and two mini toggles identified as EQ switches. The specification does not provide pickup output, magnet type, wiring diagrams, or descriptions of the EQ options. It is therefore possible to describe the control layout, but not to make reliable claims about specific tonal results.

The two humbuckers and selector provide the basic architecture for choosing between the neck pickup, bridge pickup, and a combined setting. The additional mini toggles suggest further control over the electronics, but their precise function should be confirmed with PRS documentation or a dealer before purchase, especially if a particular switching arrangement is essential.

Hardware, case, and price

The guitar has a PRS tremolo and PRS Phase III locking tuners with wing buttons. The listed strings are PRS Signature 10-46. A case is included; a gig bag is not. The tremolo's detailed design, setup range, and maintenance requirements are not specified, so the listing does not support more specific conclusions about its operation.

The stated price is 5444, with no currency supplied. Buyers should confirm the applicable currency, taxes, and regional pricing with the seller. The 75-piece limited run and U.S. Manufacture are clear points of distinction, but the information provided does not establish future resale value or collectibility.

Assessment

On paper, the PRS 40th Custom 24-08 Semi CCBurst combines a semi-hollow mahogany body, a flamed maple 10-Top, a Pattern Thin mahogany neck, and a dual-humbucker control setup. Its listed construction and hardware provide a concrete basis for comparing it with other high-specification electric guitars. Important purchase details remain undocumented, including the mini-toggle functions, setup measurements, and the exact currency of the price. With no customer feedback available, this is a specification-based assessment rather than a report of tested performance.
